Why Canva is a Blogger's Best Friend
Canva is quite possibly the greatest invention ever! I can’t tell you how much I LOVE this tool and use it ALL the time. Canva is a super user-friendly online graphic design tool. Best of all, it can be 100% FREE! I use Canva it to create one-of-a-kind graphics for blog post graphics, social media posts, and Pinterest pins. The tools available in Canva are all you need to get started on a customized blog without having to learn complicated programs like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign.
Why Use Canva to Create Custom Blog Graphics?
1) Affordable Library
Not every blogger is an excellent photographer. For those of you without the time (or desire) to learn to take better photos, Canva is a perfect tool. Canva has a vast library of public domain images available for bloggers to use. Many of the available images in Canva's photo library are free, while others are available for purchase ($1 each). Each of the photos in the Canva library is licensed for repurposing and reuse under Creative Commons, meaning you can adjust the images any way you like. In addition to the ever-growing library of photos, Canva also houses an extensive inventory of illustrations, graphics, vectors, and fonts. Plus, Canva for Work users can upload logos, fonts, and more to further customize their workflow.
2) Pre-sized Designs
Canva makes it super easy to create custom blog graphics for social sharing, too. So, no matter what social media channel you prefer, Canva can help you improve your social media sharing with one simple click. No more resizing and cropping to make a graphic meet the size guidelines for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest. Blog headers, newsletter graphics, and infographics are also easy to make using Canva's pre-formatted templates. And Canva for Work users can create resized copies of any graphic with a few simple clicks.
Another reason to use Canva to create custom blog graphics is the incredible library of layouts available. Making quality graphic designs has never been so easy. Just select a layout you like, make some quick changes, and, voila, you've got a customized blog graphic. Canva adds new layouts all the time, helping you keep your content fresh and timely. Best of all, you'll never spend more than $1 for any layout you want to use.
4) Filters & Adjustment Tools
Not only is Canva a great graphic design resource, but it's also an easy way to edit photos for your blog. The simple but effective photo filters can be used to make changes to your shots or any of the stock photos available in Canva's vast image library. Other adjustment tools (transparency, arrangement, grouping, etc.) are perfect for creating unique images that will set your blog apart from the others.
Canva is a great resource for new bloggers trying to develop a brand identity. Custom graphics made in Canva can be easily branded by using similar templates, layouts, fonts, and colors. Canva for Work makes it SUPER easy to create a branded look. Save brand colors, fonts, and logos for quick access. This feature is one of the reasons I chose to upgrade to the premium version of Canva.
In addition to being a fantastic graphic design tool, Canva is also a great place to learn graphic design skills. Use Canva to create custom blog graphics, better understand graphic design principles, and more. Canva's design school features articles, tips, and tutorials teach you how to create stunning designs using the many tools available in the program. Their workshops and courses are another great way to discover all the cool things you can do with Canva.
